The AquaticVine Plants Area was built in 1973. reconstructed from 1975 to 1976 by digging lakes to form hills,finally completed in 1981. A pool of 1,800㎡and a waterside pergola of 370㎡ is built. At present, there are more than 200 species of aquaticvine plants are in the garden, among which nelumbo nuciferanymphaea tetragona are more than 100 species. There are also some distinctive species attracts visitors most, such as the thousand-year-old ancient lotus unearthed in 1952, lotus symbolized the friendship between ChinaJapan, victoria amazonica introduced from aboardnew species of euryale ferox cultivated by our garden. The vines include wisteria sinensis, campsis radicans, celastrus orbiculatus, akebia trifoliata, actinidia chinensis, etc. A variety of wetland plants such as typha orientalis, phragmites australis, zizania latifolia were planted in the shallow water plant area newly built in 2009. A waterscape featured with red flowersgreen trees were built by growing aquatic plants, vine plants, treesshrubs. The “Stone Tablet of Emperor Kangxi”,unearthed in our garden in the 1950s, is on the east side of the pool. It inscribes a poem written by Emperor Kangxi.
