The Peony Garden was built in the mid-1960swas upgraded in 1995. it covers an area of 1.5 ha. At present, there are more than 230 species of peonypaeonia lactiflora,more than 10 species of Magnoliaceae plants. The style of traditional Chinese garden architectures is adopted in the landscape design, including pools, waterfalls, rockery, which aims to show the well integration of natural resourcesplants. A tablet reading a poem in praise of peony that written by Guo Moruo, the first dean of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, is on the east of the rockery. Thousands of precious species of peonypaenina lactiflora are blooming gradually from April to May every year, which symbolized a peacefulprosperous life. Six ancient species of lotus were planted on the west side of the rockery, which made the ancient lotus that has been sleeping for hundreds of years to reappear before the visitorsbecame a bright sightseeing of the garden in summer.
