The Crape Myrtle Garden was constructed in 2006, covering an area of 1 ha,. It was built near the lake, where varieties of crape myrtles were collected, with the addition of other summer-flowering treesshrubs. The garden has shady squareswooden pavilions, combining with sightseeing, rest,public education functions. Under the shade of poplarswillows, there are more than 20 cultivars249 crape myrtles collected, with red, purple, white and pink flower colors, such as ‘Baton Rouge’, ‘Sleeping Beauty’, etc,while displayed the summer-flowering periods of other plants, such as Alcea rosea, Hibiscus syriacus, etc. In addition,more than 2000 shrubstrees such as Lonicera tatarica, Forsythia suspensa, Cotoneaster horizontalis, Prunus × yedoensis, Carpinus cordata, Juniperus chinensis ‘Kaizuca’ are also planted here. This combined planting mode of trees, shrubs,grasses not only highlights the crape myrtlesother summer-flowering plants but also increases the biological diversity, enriches the garden landscape,makes people feel the beauty of the summer garden.
