The Lilac Garden was constructed in 1958, covering an area of 3.5 ha, adjacent to the Ornamental Peach Garden, with verdant trees and open lawns, dotted with sculptures of "Auspicious crane", being full of vitality. The Lilac Tea House is located in the garden, where visitors can enjoy tea while resting. With the Western Mountains as the background, the landscape design of the garden adopts the method of a large area of grassland with sparse forest. The center is a large lawn with a broad vision, the surrounding terrain is slightly undulated arbor trees, such as Pinus tabuliformis, Salix matsudana ‘Pendula’, Cedrus deodara, Populus tomentosa and flowering shrubs such as Amygdalus triloba, Philadelphus pekinensis, Xanthoceras sorbifolium, Cornus kousa are sparsely planted. Among the tall trees, different varieties of lilacs are planted here, with fewer of 3 to 5 plants or more of 20 to 30 plants. There are more than 100 species and 1000 plants of lilac collected here, mainly including Syringa oblata, S. oblata var. alba, S. reticulata subsp. pekinensis, S. reticulata, S. josikaea, S. vulgaris, S. pubescens subsp. microphylla, S. meyeri, S. × hyacinthiflora, S. × chinensis, S. × prestoniae. The florescence of lilacs is varied from early April to mid-late May.
