Tree peony , belonged to Paeonia suffruticosa of aeoniaceae, is a well-known deciduous shrub,  Beacause of its glorious colors, numerous shapes, refreshing fragrance, overwhelming beauty, and elegant posture, it won the reputation " "unmatched beauty among flowers, the most fragrant flower in the world" ". Since TangSong dynasties, tree peony has gradually been linked with the prosperity of the nation. The Tree Peony Garden located in the west side of the central axis of the botanical garden, north of conservatorysouth of the Crabapple Garden. Constructed in 1981finished in 1983, the garden was designed using natural planting with its landscape conditions. Covering an area of 6.3 ha., 5,500 tree peony of more than 300 cultivars has been planted in the garden, including nine colors: red, white, blue, green, yellow, pink, purple, blackmixed. Now there are different tree peony cultivars displayed in the garden, such as cultivars from central China, southern China, northwest China, Europe, AmericaJapan. In the garden, there are painted color painting square pavilion, double pavilion, Qunfang pavilionlarge porcelain murals "Ge towel purple""jade white" legends. Whenever the grain rain season, tree peony starts to bloom competitively, with its "King of flower" posture, abundant historyculture, welcome visitors from all over the world. It was proved in the old Chinese poem, "when the tree peony flowering, the city goes shocking".
