Constructed in 1983, the Ornamental Peach Garden covers an area of 3.4 ha. At present, there are more than 4000 plants of 60 cultivars of ornamental peaches in the garden, which is one of the largest ornamental peach collections in the world. With abundant of germplasm resources, ornamental peach are classifiedsix groups according to type of branch: Upright Branch Group, Longevity Group, Weeping Group, Broom Group, Twisted GroupDavid Group. According to blossom type, there are single-petaled, mei-shaped, rose-shaped, peony-shaped, chrysanthemum-shaped. In the garden, the main collecting cultivars includes Amygdalus persica × davidiana ‘BaihuaShanbitao’, A. persica ‘Jiang Tao’,A. persica ‘Fei Tao’,A. persica ‘Zi Ye Tao’, A. persica ‘Erse Tao’,A. persica ‘DaiyuChuizhi’, A. persica ‘DanbanShoufen’, A. persica ’Wubao Tao’, A. persica ‘Kikoumomo’, etc. The Ornamental Peach blossom period lasts from late March to early May. Peach is native to Chinahas a long cultivation history. It is a traditional ornamental flowerimportant fruit. In the second century BC, peaches spread to Persia along the Silk Road through Central Asia,then introduced to Europe. At present, peaches are widely cultivated all over the world.
